First Fridays are back!

Yay!! The Fremont Art Walk summer session is kicking off again next Friday and we’re all giddy. Fridays are great anyway, but each month these will be the Fridays of all Fridays!

We’ll be participating May - August with fun events, wine and discounts. Next Friday, we’re thrilled to introduce our featured artist of the month, Erica Maule of My Chloe Flower. This local lady, who began by creating wall art for her daughter Chloe, makes the sweetest darn collage art we’ve ever seen. Using patterned paper, paint, charcoal, book pages, textile fibers and everything in between, she gives us whimsical, accessible and very affordable pieces that are perfect for a child’s bedroom or anywhere else in the house. And the stars aligned perfectly in time for Mother’s Day: a piece of her work would be a wonderful gift for a new mother, an expectant mother, or even a grandmother! Erica will be joining us in the store for the evening, so you can come share a glass of wine with her and chat!

Stay tuned for more Friday fun. TGIFF!

Just in: Fluxus

We’ve just received a shipment from the fantastic folks at Fluxus, a Los Angeles-based, American-made line that is simply divine! We adore the avant-garde shapes and cuts that create flowing, interesting looks, yet maintain an understated elegance.

We’ve got the Funk top, a loose-fitting basic top that makes the ol’ jeans-and-a-t-shirt outfit just a bit more fashion-forward and stylish. The Sunset Wrap is loads of fun as well because it makes a great statement without being overdone. You can dress it up with heels or boots or make it comfy and casual with leggings and sandals. And the Zannie Wrap is a perfect Spring cover-up: it’s light but warm, with an elegant, oversized drape. Jessica Alba totally rocks this one, and in fact, it seems like she never takes hers off.

The Nomad Scarf is kind of like the all-purpose sarong for the urbanista: it’s a chic Swiss Army Knife of scarves that can be a great fashion accent, a head cover when it rains, a wrap over a sleeveless dress—even an airplane travel blanket (are they charging extra for those yet?)! It’s even washable and quick-drying! We’re not at all surprised it’s one of Oprah’s Must-Haves for 2011. Even Jude Law has been seen wrapped up in one—talk about versatile!

Funk Top $60
Sunset Wrap Available in Incense $88
Zannie Wrap $80 with Nomad Scarf Black $48
Nomad Scarf Spice $48

Consignment just got bigger and better!

We’ve accomplished one of our New Year’s resolutions, and it’s only April! We’re very excited to announce the expansion of our upstairs consignment shop. There’s twice the space now, with a section completely dedicated to gratuitous shoe glory, two cases full of fabulous jewelry, and an expanded section where we can really showcase the amazing selection of designer items we have—we’re talking Diane Von Furstenberg dresses, Prada shoes, designer jeans galore, and delicious vintage! We also think you should feel free to drag your mister in with you when you’re just strolling by, because now there is comfy sitting area as well (a.k.a. “the boyfriend chairs”)! Plus, there will also be a permanent sale rack full of discounted new items from downstairs, and we’ve reduced the price tag of many of the consignment items (and we mean priced to sell). It's kind of like a dreamy Stairway to Sale Heaven. Come check it out!

Put some Spring in your step!

Don't lose heart, ladies -- the sun is soon going to come out of hibernation and the entire city will take a big happy pill. For getting out and about (because you're going to just feel like walking instead!) we’re bringing out fresh shipments of everyone’s favorite cool granny sandal, the Worishofer, as well as Toms Classic Canvas slip-ons, and Eric Michael to die for sandals.

Worishofers, if you’re unfamiliar, were catapulted out of the closets of German grandmothers when celebs like Maggie Gyllenhaal, MIA and pregnant ladies everywhere fell madly in love with them. You think they look like they’re made for shuffling around the retirement home until you put them on and see how cute they actually look with your little cuffed jeans or spring dress!

Toms are another perennial favorite here, not only for their casual versatility and comfort, but for their very noble practice of donating a pair of shoes to a person in need for each pair sold. Pretty awesome.

And just in at Show Pony are Eric Michael Wedges and Sandals, in both dressy and dressed-down styles. We love them for their creative color mixes and, of course, because they’re made for walkin’!

New Suzabelle

Boy, she has really done it this time. Suzanne Jaberg’s Spring/Summer 11 Suzabelle collection we think is her best ever. It’s everything about her line that makes it so special: fuss-free, yet pretty designs; phenomenal attention to detail and quality tailoring, flattering and timeless silhouettes with totally unexpected surprises in the details — a perfectly placed zipper or pocket, or a few gentle layers of fabric that make you feel beautiful like an orchid — all with a refreshing Spring feel.

Among the selection that just arrived at Show Pony are the oh-so-sharp Creed Blazer and Hawke Skirt, a fun and feminine Miramichi blouse with orange or azure stripes, and the super stylish Hollyhock Dress. We can’t wait to see how it all looks on you!

It’s Trunk Show Time!

Time to come meet a few of our favorite local designers and buy directly from these lovely ladies with a handy-dandy 10% discount!

In the house will be Tara Smith of Revival Ink, a Show Pony mainstay with her much-loved screen printed knits using fair-trade, organic, recycled and bamboo fabrics. Tara will be previewing her new Spring creations as well as offering a few classic customer faves at the aforementioned discount.

Also joining us will be Cody Bay of a new jewelry line we’ve discovered, Seventy-Eight. Combining metalwork with materials like semi-precious stones, glass and leather, we love her work for its ability to combine just the right amount of eye-catching shine with a clean, minimalist aesthetic that is wonderfully wearable.

Daly Bird’s Tiffany Eley seriously has a way with leather, and we can’t get enough of her smokin’ earrings. Metallic paints give her designs a sexy, urban edge, and she makes use of materials like lamb skin to achieve an extra soft and luxe feel.

Topping it all off is Karyn Gold of Pirouette Essentials, also a Show Pony favorite that many of you know and love as a go-to gift for a birthday (or maybe to yourself because hey, it’s Wednesday). Her cruelty-free and environmentally-friendly soaps and perfumes smell like pure heaven and come wrapped in the loveliest darn packages you’ve ever seen.

Renew + refresh!

We are getting sooo giddy for Spring to get here and we know you all are too. The great designs that keep arriving are terribly inspiring. As soon as that first sunny day breaks through, we’re going to be ready for it -- and you can bet we’re going to welcome it not just with bells on, but probably a cute new brightly colored top, a flirty scarf and whatever fun accessories we can get away with before we start looking like a 4-year-old whose mom lets her dress herself.

Here’s a peek:

Modern, clean, comfortable and fashion-forward tops from Gentle Fawn.

New styles from Big Buddha -- we love how versatile and stylish these bags are, and at an impressive price point.

There’s nothing that makes you feel like floating on air than wearing a pair of soft, light feather earrings. And there’s something so sexy about them!

Fedoras, Anklets and other GBF’s

That’s a “Girl’s Best Friend,” in case you were wondering! We’re loving the looks that Spring has in store: flirty floral patterns and menswear-inspired styles for women—returns to minimalism (especially hot for the fellas right now) are always refreshing and fun, and even better when the ladies take it over and totally rock it.

Here are a few fabulous new items we have in stock to help you get the look:

French Curve Leggings and Anklets. Sheer socks with sweet, dainty patterns that look fantastic in heels or poking out of your ankle boots while we make that transition to brighter days.

Sheer gauze scarves in rose prints, butterflies and soft plaids -- pretty and carefree, they let you keep one foot in Winter while dipping your toes into Spring. Only $24!

Christy’s Crown Series Hats. Ok, we’re completely losing our heads over these. Classy and cute felt fedoras in two styles, one with a bow in back and one without. You’ll see what we mean when you put one on. They just look and fit amazing. Also a great price point at only $55/$58.

Tara Gasparian Rose Earrings. These vintage-inspired baubles add a romantic flare or dash of color and are a perfect finish to many a Spring look, whether you’re going girly girl or dapper dame.

We also love what happens when we put all these elements together. Come in and play dress-up!

Sale - Extra Special Consignment Specials!!!

We’re not sure what celestial fashion forces are at work right now, but for some reason it seems that all the trash vs. treasure stars have just aligned to create a Show Pony consignment section that is absolutely stellar!

To make sure you don’t miss out, we’ve put together two fantastic sale racks upstairs with discounts from 20 to 50 percent off. On one rack, we’ve got some incredible winter coat and jacket finds -- we’re talking never-worn, mint condition camel hair, pea coats and more at ridiculous prices! And we hear next week may bring snow yet, despite what Mr. Groundhog said.

There is also a freaking adorable pair of Nave plum cuffed shorts that are just begging to be dressed up with some tights and high heels, plus practically brand-new 100 percent cashmere sweaters, lots of great denim, and a whole wall full of tall black leather boots!

Stop by and see what lucky finds the universe has in store for you!
