First Fridays are back!

Yay!! The Fremont Art Walk summer session is kicking off again next Friday and we’re all giddy. Fridays are great anyway, but each month these will be the Fridays of all Fridays!

We’ll be participating May - August with fun events, wine and discounts. Next Friday, we’re thrilled to introduce our featured artist of the month, Erica Maule of My Chloe Flower. This local lady, who began by creating wall art for her daughter Chloe, makes the sweetest darn collage art we’ve ever seen. Using patterned paper, paint, charcoal, book pages, textile fibers and everything in between, she gives us whimsical, accessible and very affordable pieces that are perfect for a child’s bedroom or anywhere else in the house. And the stars aligned perfectly in time for Mother’s Day: a piece of her work would be a wonderful gift for a new mother, an expectant mother, or even a grandmother! Erica will be joining us in the store for the evening, so you can come share a glass of wine with her and chat!

Stay tuned for more Friday fun. TGIFF!

Just in: Fluxus

We’ve just received a shipment from the fantastic folks at Fluxus, a Los Angeles-based, American-made line that is simply divine! We adore the avant-garde shapes and cuts that create flowing, interesting looks, yet maintain an understated elegance.

We’ve got the Funk top, a loose-fitting basic top that makes the ol’ jeans-and-a-t-shirt outfit just a bit more fashion-forward and stylish. The Sunset Wrap is loads of fun as well because it makes a great statement without being overdone. You can dress it up with heels or boots or make it comfy and casual with leggings and sandals. And the Zannie Wrap is a perfect Spring cover-up: it’s light but warm, with an elegant, oversized drape. Jessica Alba totally rocks this one, and in fact, it seems like she never takes hers off.

The Nomad Scarf is kind of like the all-purpose sarong for the urbanista: it’s a chic Swiss Army Knife of scarves that can be a great fashion accent, a head cover when it rains, a wrap over a sleeveless dress—even an airplane travel blanket (are they charging extra for those yet?)! It’s even washable and quick-drying! We’re not at all surprised it’s one of Oprah’s Must-Haves for 2011. Even Jude Law has been seen wrapped up in one—talk about versatile!

Funk Top $60
Sunset Wrap Available in Incense $88
Zannie Wrap $80 with Nomad Scarf Black $48
Nomad Scarf Spice $48

Consignment just got bigger and better!

We’ve accomplished one of our New Year’s resolutions, and it’s only April! We’re very excited to announce the expansion of our upstairs consignment shop. There’s twice the space now, with a section completely dedicated to gratuitous shoe glory, two cases full of fabulous jewelry, and an expanded section where we can really showcase the amazing selection of designer items we have—we’re talking Diane Von Furstenberg dresses, Prada shoes, designer jeans galore, and delicious vintage! We also think you should feel free to drag your mister in with you when you’re just strolling by, because now there is comfy sitting area as well (a.k.a. “the boyfriend chairs”)! Plus, there will also be a permanent sale rack full of discounted new items from downstairs, and we’ve reduced the price tag of many of the consignment items (and we mean priced to sell). It's kind of like a dreamy Stairway to Sale Heaven. Come check it out!

Put some Spring in your step!

Don't lose heart, ladies -- the sun is soon going to come out of hibernation and the entire city will take a big happy pill. For getting out and about (because you're going to just feel like walking instead!) we’re bringing out fresh shipments of everyone’s favorite cool granny sandal, the Worishofer, as well as Toms Classic Canvas slip-ons, and Eric Michael to die for sandals.

Worishofers, if you’re unfamiliar, were catapulted out of the closets of German grandmothers when celebs like Maggie Gyllenhaal, MIA and pregnant ladies everywhere fell madly in love with them. You think they look like they’re made for shuffling around the retirement home until you put them on and see how cute they actually look with your little cuffed jeans or spring dress!

Toms are another perennial favorite here, not only for their casual versatility and comfort, but for their very noble practice of donating a pair of shoes to a person in need for each pair sold. Pretty awesome.

And just in at Show Pony are Eric Michael Wedges and Sandals, in both dressy and dressed-down styles. We love them for their creative color mixes and, of course, because they’re made for walkin’!

New Suzabelle

Boy, she has really done it this time. Suzanne Jaberg’s Spring/Summer 11 Suzabelle collection we think is her best ever. It’s everything about her line that makes it so special: fuss-free, yet pretty designs; phenomenal attention to detail and quality tailoring, flattering and timeless silhouettes with totally unexpected surprises in the details — a perfectly placed zipper or pocket, or a few gentle layers of fabric that make you feel beautiful like an orchid — all with a refreshing Spring feel.

Among the selection that just arrived at Show Pony are the oh-so-sharp Creed Blazer and Hawke Skirt, a fun and feminine Miramichi blouse with orange or azure stripes, and the super stylish Hollyhock Dress. We can’t wait to see how it all looks on you!
