Many of you who have come in to visit us lately have taken notice of the colorful new jewelry display to the right of the counter. This lovely and interesting spread of silk-wrapped finerie has gotten a lot of attention, so we thought we’d tell you all a bit more about it!
The artist is New Yorker Lauren Wimmer, whose work has been sold through museums like the Art Institute of Chicago, the Philadelphia Art Museum and other specialty shops. Her “wrapped” collection features hand-dyed silk ribbon wrapped around tubing to create big bib-style necklaces, long layering necklaces and matching earrings—at fantastic price points. She sometimes incorporates semi-precious stone elements like Citrine, Smokey Quartz, Peridot and Carnelian with frogs, scarabs and bees, in gorgeous fall color schemes. We just love how well these versatile and eye-catching little works of art complement any outfit!
