Saako Scarves

Is it a scarf? Is it a necklace? Who cares, it’s awesome! Saako, an international design label based in Barcelona, made its Show Pony debut last month and you all are so curious about it, we thought it was time for a little introduction and background.

The company was started by Ines Brito and Joana Gouveia, two young graphic designers from Portugal who wanted to apply their talents to showcasing the vibrant style and traditions of their native country with an ethos of sustainability. The result was a funky piece of neckwear using upcycled ribbed jersey fabrics from Portugal that are animated, cozy and fun to wear. Each one is made by hand by local women who take pride in the textile traditions of Portugal and Spain.

We love watching people put these on and transform an everyday outfit like jeans and a tee or leggings and a tunic into something a bit more interesting. One thing is for sure, people are going to want to touch these wherever you go, so be prepared!
